The air was chilly and the red dust had settled down. The lights were shining brightly on the 7 representatives from Columbus Cricket Club who had just routed the prolific Alcoholix. As supporters from each team shouted themselves hoarse these two teams thwarted many challenges from teams in and for that matter out of town.

Looking back on Saturday May 13th it started off as a very damp day. Rain and gloom threatened to wash out a sizable turnout. But then the Rain Gods decided to take a break and the OSUCC officials took matters in their own hands or better yet took some tools in their own hands and gave the teams and themselves excellent playing conditions for most of the day. Game after game was played and a very few were not marred by controversies.The team with the maximum octane was wininng.

Individual innings, outstanding bowling performances, blinding catches made the games so interesting. But in the end the team who could put it all together kept on winning. A few performers to the best of my recollection were Bharat, Manju and Shrinath from CCC, the entire Alcoholix squad(u weren't high octane it was all the alcohol that got you through), that guy from Raza's team (don't know the name), Salman & Vineet from A2, Puneet from A1(din't see the other A1 members) Prashant Sashtry, Punani, Prashant & Mandar from WIN(although they bitched a lot with the exception of Shastry), Guru Prasad from Bharat 7 and finally the demolition man from 102 Vicky(1 man army). These guys were the creme'dela'creme', of the tennis ball tournament.

But remember all this would not have taken place without the efforts of Vishnu Vaka. The guy ran around all day and managed to play.Well done Vish. Vinny, Vicky, Puneet, Vineet, Salman. A special thanks to you all because without you there would not have been enough officials to monitor some of the games and the tourney wold have been hell. A special note of thanks to CCC people & their supporters for their help & who were patient enough to wait the very end.

To sum it all up it was a sparkling tournament courtsey to all those mentioned above which gave us many challengers,worthy runners-up and deserving winners. Kudos to you all.
