etc.,

Effort was also made to give a few of our lower order batsmen a chance at the top of the order to showcase their batting skills.

Batting:
========
We won the toss, batted first and got off to a flyer with Vindy and Venky both stroking the ball beautifully.

Vindy retired becasue he had to leave for another appointment.

Murthy, Ravi Darbha & Ravi Reddy were unforutnate in not being able to spend much time in the middle. They sure deserve another chance to prove their mettle next time... Hari went in next. he looked a little sluggish (due to the fever) but that did not seem to affect his timing at all. He blitzed NCC with a quick 50 which included sweetly timed pulls to the midwicket for maximum runs.

All this while Venky was going strong, scoring occassional boundaries and keeping one end up beautifully. He ran like a hare and hit the ball to all parts (Pulls, square cuts, off drives etc.,)

Venky and Hari retired after getting their well deserved 50s, to give other batsmen a chance.

Pradeep belted a six and a four before getting out caught in slips. He deliberately tried to late cut but was surprised to find a fielder there. Vinod Kosike hit a beautiful stroke only to find the fielder on the mid-wicket boundary.

Sunny Gummalla, playing for the first time for CCC, wasn't troubled much by the fast pitch. He was doing ok but unfortunately got run-out.

Vineel and Bharat finished off the innings by putting on 20 runs for the last wicket, helped by some sloppy fielding from NCC.

Bowling
=======
Murthy and Hari shared the wicket keeping duties. Vineel and Vinod Kosike shared the new ball. Vineel was, as usual, swinging the ball in and troubled the batsmen. Kosike had some trouble controlling the ball as he was bowling with a new cherry for the first time.

Vineel got Suresh, who was by then, beginning to look dangerous. Murthy lunged to his right to take a very good catch, in front of first slip(Hari).

Vineel struck again to uproot Ravi's middle stump with a left armer's classic in-swinging yorker. Beautiful delivery!

Sreedhar Beeravol (playing for NCC) and Praveen, then played well to consolidate their innings. Sree was defending good balls and punching over pitched deliveries to the boundaries. Along with his trademark on-drives, he even hit a couple of very good straight drives and even a extra cover boundary.

Praveen gave him good support and the partnetship was beginning to look dangerous. Kosike pulled off a very good catch to get sreedhar just before drinks break. Ravi Reddy bowled Ram (leftie who scored 37 in our previous game) with a beautiful delivery bang of his off stick. Vinod Muthu and Praveen then put on a very good partnetship to cause some anxious moments for CCC. Muthu started of with an offside six off ravi and then punished Murthy for a few more. Murthy tried his best to get his looping leg spinners on target, but in the end, there were too many full tosses that were easy pickings. In a normal game, Murthy would've reverted to his seam up bowling, but he sticked to his experimentl leg breaks at the captains behest.

Venky was then introduced and got Praveen immediately. Praveen, haveing hit a sixer himself was playing pretty well at that time. Venky immediately picked up another wicket. Hari made a heads upplay to clevelry stump Mahesh.

In Venky's next over, Vindy held on to a good catch to send back Muthu and it was curtains for a good chase from NCC.

Pradeep bowled with gusto, stuck to a perfect line and length to pick up Deepak (bowled) and Vishnu (Ct well by Hari).

Sam was runout by Bharat, who flicked the ball to Ravi Darbha to effect and easy runout.

It was a pretty good chase for about 3/4 ths of the was for NCC. The required run rate proved to be a little too much, in the end.
